Vol. 228 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kerry Castle Lands.

14.

asked the Minister for Lands whether serious consideration will be given to a proposal that the State should acquire Ardtully Castle and the adjoining 11½ acres of land near Kilgarvan, County Kerry, which is for sale and which contains excellent salmon and trout fishing, as this property may be sold to a foreigner.

The Deputy's representations are being brought to the notice of the Land Commission.

I may say that the sale of the property to a person who is not a qualified person within the meaning of section 45 of the Land Act, 1965, would be subject to the consent of the Land Commission.
