Vol. 229 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cashel School for Mentally Handicapped.

33.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Education if the building of the school for the mentally handicapped at Cashel, County Tipperary, will shortly begin.

Mr. O'Malley

My Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of the erection of the proposed new school for mentally handicapped children at Cashel, County Tipperary. I understand that the Commissioners of Public Works are preparing working drawings for the project which they hope to complete shortly. When the working drawings have been completed and title to the site has been cleared tenders will be invited by the Commissioners.

I am unable to say at present when building operations will begin but the case is being dealt with as a matter of urgency.
