Vol. 229 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Industrial Estate.

36.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what progress has been made in the establishment of an industrial estate at Galway city; and how many industrialists have applied for accommodation on the proposed estate.

I understand from An Foras Tionscal that they have completed the planning of the Industrial Estate at Galway. One factory has been constructed and is now in production. The construction of other factories is about to begin. These will be advance factories.

I also understand that, as a result of the work undertaken by the Industrial Development Authority, in publicising the Galway Estate as part of their overall industrial promotional programme, a number of industrialists have expressed interest in locating on the estate. It is too early to say whether or not these approaches will result in firm projects.
