Vol. 229 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fluoridation Schemes.

31.

asked the Minister for Health the number of local authories which have introduced fluoridation for the public water supply in their respective areas; and the number of schemes now pending.

Fifteen public water supplies, in seven health authority areas, have already been fluoridated. The total population served by these water supplies is approximately 960,000.

Arrangements are being made by all health authorities to fluoridate the larger public water supplies in their areas and these arrangements are at different stages in the various areas. By the end of the current year it is expected that around 30 additional supplies will have been fluoridated.
