Vol. 231 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Swimming Pools.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, having regard to the urgent need for at least two municipal swimming pools in Dublin at Crumlin and Townsend Street, he will now expedite approval of the recent tender submitted by the Corporation to him; and when the building of the pools will commence.

The tenders for swimming pools in Dublin which were considered by the General Purposes Committee of Corporation on 23rd ultimo are at present under examination in my Department and I hope to convey my decision thereon to the Corporation shortly.

I am unable to say at this stage when building is likely to commence.

Will the Minister give an undertaking that he will not sabotage this swimming pool plan of Dublin Corporation in the same way as he and his Fianna Fáil colleagues have done over the years?

You know a lot about sabotage over there.

Deputy Ryan can forget about this item in his next election campaign.

The Minister undertakes that he will approve it?
