Vol. 231 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Electricity Scheme.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if an old age pensioner who is not a registered consumer now will qualify for the free electricity scheme, if he gets his home connected to ESB supply.

An old age pensioner who is, or becomes, a registered consumer of electricity may qualify for the free electricity allowance if he also satisfies the other conditions of the scheme. These are that he must reside alone or with the following classes of person only—a wife, an invalid person who ordinarily resides with the pensioner, other old age or blind pensioners, a child or children under the age of 16 for whose maintenance the pensioner is ordinarily responsible.
