Vol. 231 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Moy Bridge.

52.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to construct the new bridge over the river Moy at Ballinacurra, Swinford, County Mayo.

The Moy Drainage Scheme provides for the underpinning or rebuilding of the county road bridge at Ballinacurra if and as required. When water levels fall next spring the foundations will be examined and a decision taken on the work needed to meet the new drainage conditions, that is, whether a new bridge must be built or whether underpinning of the foundations would be enough.

Is the Minister aware that the existing bridge is in a dangerous condition and that people are afraid to cross it, even with a light vehicle such as a motorcar? Would he take the necessary steps to see that the work is undertaken at a very early date?

Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach.

Question No. 53 postponed.
