Vol. 232 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing Schemes.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has approved of the proposal of Killarney Urban District Council to erect 11 new houses on the sand pit site in Killarney.

I have already approved in principle of the use of this site for housing purposes. I have also informed the council that their plans for this site do not measure up to its important location, but that, because of the delay which would be involved in providing the houses, I do not propose to press my objections if, on reconsideration, they are satisfied to use those plans.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has yet received from Kerry County Council a proposal for a housing scheme for Kenmare; and, if so, the present position relating to this proposal.

On 17th ultimo, the council requested my approval to their proposal to acquire a site in Kenmare which would accommodate some 30 houses. I gave approval in principle to this proposal last week.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has approved of the proposal of Killarney Urban District Council to construct six new houses on the Sluagh Hall site in Killarney; and whether he will be prepared to allow the contractor who is constructing 24 similar type houses nearby for the council to build the above-mentioned six at the same rate per house.

The proposal to provide a further six houses on the Sluagh Hall site by an extension of the existing contract was approved by me last week.
