Vol. 232 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Bacon Factory.

31.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether State contributions were made towards the payment of an incentive bonus scheme to workers formerly in the factory of Messrs. Denny and Sons Limited at Blackpool, Cork; and if he will give details of the amounts paid from any State or semi-State funds under his Department in this respect.

32.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of all grants or loans paid from State or semi-State sources under his Department to Messrs. Denny and Sons Limited in respect of their factory at Blackpool in Cork over the last 15 years.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 31 and 32 together.

The only grant made by my Department to Henry Denny and Sons Ltd. in respect of the firm's Cork factory was a grant of £21 paid on 4th March, 1965 under the technical assistance scheme administered by my Department towards a training course attended by one of the management personnel from that factory. No grant was made by a semi-State body for which I am responsible. I have no function in relation to loans.
