Vol. 232 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Landlord and Tenant Commission.

12.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has yet received a report from the Landlord and Tenant Commission in respect of the inquiry as to whether persons other than those already given the right to a reversionary lease under the Landlord and Tenant (Reversionary Leases) Act, 1958 should be give that right; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not yet received a report from the Landlord and Tenant Commission on the question of extending the categories of persons entitled to reversionary leases and to buy out the fee simple.

I shall not be in a position to make a statement on the matter until the report has been presented and the Commission's recommendations have been considered by the Government.

Has the attention of the Landlord and Tenant Commission been drawn to the necessity for this retrospective treatment?

Yes. I directed the attention of the Commission to this and all other aspects—the right to revert leases and the right to buy out fee simple.

Can the Minister say when the report will be available?

I expect it shortly.
