Vol. 232 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo-Leitrim Housing Schemes.

8.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has approved of schemes for the erection of houses in County Sligo and County Leitrim; if these schemes have commenced or will shortly be commenced; and if he will give details of the schemes.

There are no group housing schemes which have been aproved by me in progress at present in these counties but work is proceeding on 21 single rural cottages in County Sligo and three in County Leitrim.

Tenders have been approved by me for a scheme of 40 houses at Abbeyville, Sligo, and for a further 16 rural cottages in County Sligo and four in County Leitrim on which work has not yet been commenced. A proposal to accept a tender for 12 houses at Collooney, County Sligo, was received in my Department last week and is under examination. Plans are being examined in my Department for schemes of 12 houses at Ballisodare, County Sligo, and of 12 houses at Carrick-on-Shannon, two at Manorhamilton and two at Kiltyclogher in County Leitrim.

asked the Minister for Local Government when Sligo County Council will commence the construction of the housing schemes in Sligo, Ballisodare and Collooney.

I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when work will be commenced on these schemes. The acceptance of a tender for a scheme of 40 houses at Abbeyville, Sligo, has been approved by me, and the corporation's application for sanction to the necessary loan is under consideration. Draft layout and house plans for a scheme of 12 houses in Ballisodare have been submitted to me but I will not be in a position to give a decision on them pending the submission by the council of further information, including a specification and an estimate of costs. A proposal to accept a tender for 12 houses at Collooney was received by me last week and is being examined.
