Vol. 232 No. 11

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 9, 10 and 11. Question will be at 2.30 p.m. There is a possibility, I understand, that business may not last until 2.30, in which event there will be no objection on this side of the House to beginning questions on the conclusion of other business.

I should like to give notice that, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I wish to raise on the Adjournment the matter of the extent of ministerial control over RTE, having regard to the Taoiseach's reply of 12th October, 1966.

The Chair will communicate with Deputy Dunne.

The Deputy is getting great mileage out of RTE.

Wait until you hear what I have to say on this subject and you will not be tittering as you are now doing over there.

You would do anything for notice.

You will have red faces after it, I can tell you.

I dare the Deputy to say anything he can prove inside or outside the House.

I take you up on that and I will prove it, and I shall invite the Taoiseach into the House to see the proof of it.

I will be here.

(Interruptions.)

You think you have safeguarded every flank but you have not, as you will find out if I get the opportunity under the rules of this House today.

What would you do without RTE?

The Minister should keep out of this.

What would the Government do without it?

I dare the Deputy to say anything he can prove.

You are the greatest thimble-rigger of the lot.

That is a low-down remark, typical of the Deputy and some of his colleagues.

(Interruptions.)

We began on a very pleasant note but we seem to be getting into trouble.

We have to have the debate on the Broy Harriers yet.

Why are you in such bad humour over there?

We do not like dirty cracks like that from anyone.

We must hear about the mysterious member of TACA in Clifden.

You know some good friends here in the city. One made £75,000 to £80,000 but he subscribed to TACA and everything was all right.
