It is open to any local group, subject to compliance with planning requirements, to try to attract private industrial estate developers to establish an industrial estate in their area. Grants are available from An Foras Tionscal to the developers of private industrial estates to enable them to reduce the rents payable by industrialists renting factories on these estates.
The selection of growth centres at which industrial estates administered by An Foras Tionscal will be set up must await the outcome of the Regional Planning Studies at present in progress under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963.
