Vol. 233 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Speed Limits.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government why there is such a long delay in making regulations under the County Cork Speed Limit Order.

An inspection was carried out in County Cork last year as part of the current general review of speed limits. Preparation of amending speed limit regulations for Cork county is proceeding in consultation with the road authorities concerned and with the Garda Síochána. There has been no avoidable delay in my Department in dealing with the matter. The Deputy will appreciate that the process of preparing regulations for such a large county affecting so many local authority areas is bound to take a considerable amount of time.

Might I ask how long it will take?

I do not know.

Can the Minister say in what month we will have the result?

It is hoped to have it in the next three months.

You still have a Safety First week.
