Vol. 233 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Electricity Voltage.

3.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of great concern amongst electricity users in Cork in relation to the low voltage and the resultant loss and damage to electrical machinery; and what action he proposes to take to remedy this situation.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that they are not aware of any general concern of the nature suggested by the Deputy.

The Board appreciate, however, that with the extension of building and the number of electrical appliances in use there may be individual houses or groups of houses where temporarily supply is not fully satisfactory. The Board make every effort to eliminate the difficulties in such cases by strengthening the distribution system. The Board estimate their expenditure in their Cork district on such work this year at over £400,000.

Persons affected should bring particular cases of difficulty to the notice of the local office of the ESB for investigation.
