asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in terms of sterling the total value of imports to this country from South Africa for each of the years 1961 to 1967; and if he will indicate the nature of the goods imported, stating alternative sources of supply open to this country.

As the particulars requested by the Deputy regarding the total value and nature of the goods imported into this country from South Africa in the years 1961-67 are in the form of a tabular statement I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have the statement circulated with the Official Report.
It would not be practicable for me to indicate alternative sources of supply for the goods listed in the statement. This is normally a matter for importers themselves.
