Vol. 233 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Patrols.

38.

asked the Minister for Justice whether there has been a decline in the number of foot patrols by Gardaí in many parts of Dublin.

There has been no reduction in the extent of foot patrols performed in the Dublin Metropolitan Area, where the number of gardaí is greater than at any time in the past. Foot patrols are supplemented by additional patrols by gardaí in motor cars or on motor cycles. The number allocated to various duties is varied on occasions as may be required by circumstances, and I am satisfied that the Garda authorities are making the most effective use of the manpower and police equipment at their disposal.
