asked the Minister for Finance when he proposes to make the order implementing the 12 per cent increase in the pensions of public servants; and whether the 5 per cent increase forecast in his Budget statement is to be reckoned on the gross pension as adjusted by the order above referred to.

Statutory regulations were required before the 12 per cent increase granted in the 1967 Budget could be implemented in the case of pensions paid from the Central Fund. The Pensions (Increase) Regulations, 1968, (S.I. No 103 of 1968) authorising payment of the 12 per cent were made on 2nd May, 1968, and the increase is, of course, effective from 1st August, 1967.
The answer to the second part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative.
