Vol. 236 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Liffey Ferry.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, with reference to a reply of 26th June last concerning the substantial annual loss on the operation of the Liffey ferry, the authority for the imposition on Dublin Corporation of the obligation to operate the Liffey ferry, whether Dublin Corporation has requested him to introduce legislation to relieve the corporation of that obligation; if so, when that request was made; and when he will accede to it.

The obligation to operate the Liffey ferry was imposed on Dublin Corporation by a charter of the year 1665. I have no request before me from Dublin Corporation to introduce legislation to relieve them of that obligation.
