Vol. 237 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aer Lingus Investment.

23.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if his attention has been drawn to the report of a meeting of the Irish Hotels Federation which was held in Dublin on the 6th November where it was stated that the Federation was greatly concerned about the investment by Aer Lingus in Ryans Tourist Holdings; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

24.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if his attention has been directed to a statement made in Dublin on the 6th November, 1968 by the President of the Irish Hotels Federation to the effect that his organisation was greatly concerned about the investment by Aer Lingus in Ryans Tourist Holdings Limited and that his Association intended to examine closely the implications of this investment; if he will direct a full inquiry into this matter in view of the alarm expressed by the Federation; and, if not, if he will make available all records and information which may be required in order to facilitate such full and close investigations into this matter as may satisfy the Hotels Federation.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions 23 and 24 together.

I have seen the statement referred to and I welcome the Federation's decision to examine closely the implications of this investment. I have every confidence that their examination will remove their concern and, if it does not, I shall be happy to receive them and to discuss with them any aspects of the matter about which they remain dissatisfied.
