Agreement has been reached for the purchase by the Land Commission of this 53 acre holding and possession will be arranged as soon as the necessary legal requirements have been completed.

An area of 20 acres together with the existing buildings on this 213 acre estate was allotted last January. Pending completion of the necessary inquiries on the ground it is not possible to indicate at present when resale proposals for the main portion of the lands can be formulated.

asked the Minister for Lands the present position regarding the Cannon Estate, Toorkeel, Athenry, County Galway; and if the Land Commission have any plans for its acquisition.
Proceedings were instituted recently for compulsory acquisition of this 15 acre holding. The appropriate statutory notices were served on the owner's representatives last month.
