Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Flooding.

58.

asked the Minister for Local Government what plans are being made to prevent a recurrence of the recent flooding in Tubbercurry, County Sligo; and if any compensation will be paid to those who suffered severe losses.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of the 14th instant to Question No. 23 in this matter.

I am informed by Sligo County Council that they propose to examine the feasibility of making provision for flood waters in the sewerage improvement scheme which they propose to carry out in Tubbercurry.

With regard to the last part of the Deputy's question reconstruction grants are payable by my Department in respect of damage to dwellings caused by wind, rain or flooding. Applications made to the Department for such grants in respect of damage to dwellings due to the recent flooding in Tubbercurry will be given early attention.
