Vol. 237 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disability Benefit Claims.

88.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the hardship often caused to many people owing to the inordinate length of time it takes before applications for disability benefit are approved; and whether he proposes to improve this distressing situation.

It is not correct to suggest that there is inordinate delay in dealing with claims for disability benefit. I am fully satisfied that, in general, payment of disability benefit is made promptly. If, however, the Deputy has any individual case in mind I will have inquiries made in the matter if he will let me have particulars.
