In reply to a question on this subject on 3rd December last I indicated that the co-operative societies in the Tipperary area had recently put forward new proposals for the organisation of the creamery and milk processing industry in the area. Having considered those proposals I have since approved of the opening of negotiations between the Dairy Disposal Company and the societies for the transfer to an amalgamated co-operative society of the company's interests in the area subject to certain conditions. These conditions provide, inter alia, for proper rationalisation of the industry in the area and for the safeguarding of the interests of the company's suppliers and staff.
