The various expenses and payments in relation to the conduct of elections are set out and prescribed in Election Charges Orders. These orders are reviewed from time to time. A review was made in the context of the recent general election and the amounts provided in the subsequent Election Charges Order, 1969, for the counting of votes were substantially increased.
