That a sum not exceeding £738,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1970, for payment of Increases in certain Pensions, Allowances and Retired Pay in respect of public service and for payment of ex-gratia pensions to the widows and children of certain public servants.
This additional Estimate was only introduced today. It is to provide the money to meet the increases in pensions announced in the Budget. The total amount is £738,000. It covers civil servants, teachers, gardaí—all the Public Service, in fact.
