Vol. 241 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Institute of Higher Education.

108.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new institute of higher education in Limerick.

Applications have been invited for the post of director of the proposed Institute of Higher Education in Limerick. The latest date for receipt of applications is 25th July. As soon as this appointment is made the planning board will be set up. Its task will be to arrange for the siting and provision of new buildings, the formulation of specific proposals for courses and for the making available of the requisite staff, equipment, library and other facilities.

Will it be necessary to have legislation introduced here to establish this? If so, when will the Minister be in a position to introduce that legislation?

I will communicate with the Deputy.

What is the remuneration of the persons concerned?

That does not seem to arise from the question. Question No. 109.
