Television programmes for post-primary schools have been in operation for some years and generous grants have been given by my Department to post-primary school authorities for the purchase or rental of television sets.
I am not in a position to say when radio or television programmes will be introduced for primary schools. I might add, however, that my Department has had preliminaray discussion with Radio Telefís Éireann in relation to the provision of experimental radio programmes for primary schools.
Has the Minister any indication of the number of such sets in operation in post-primary schools at present?
I am afraid I have not got the figures here.
