Vol. 241 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Rates.

58.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is satisfied that all tenants appointed to local authority houses in County Donegal are in a position to pay the high rates demanded by the county council in view of the high poor law valuation levied on all new properties erected in the county; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Clause 3 of the differential rent scheme applicable to all new houses provided by Donegal County Council provides that the council may, having regard to the special circumstances of a particular tenant, agree to accept from him a lesser sum than that required in respect of both rent and rates.
