Vol. 241 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Housing.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give approval to the proposal by Laois County Council for the erection of additional houses in Mountmellick, County Laois, which is awaiting sanction in his Department.

This proposal was received in my Department on the 14th instant and is under consideration. A decision on it will be given as soon as possible.

72.

asked the Minister for Local Government the housing proposals in his Department from the councils of (a) Laois and (b) Offaly; the number and location of houses in each proposal; and if in view of the housing shortage in these counties he will give immediate approval so that the councils may proceed with the erection of the muchneeded houses.

The only such proposal at present before my Department is one from Offaly County Council to accept a tender for 24 houses at Mucklagh, Tullamore. This proposal is under consideration and a decision on it will be given as soon as possible.
