The possibility of extending the free transport facilities enjoyed by old age pensioners to include travelling on bus services of private operators has been under consideration for some time past but the matter has presented a number of problems to which it has been difficult to find satisfactory solutions. However, my Department will, in the very near future, put definitive proposals to the principal private operators concerned which it is hoped will prove acceptable.
