Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage Maintenance Allocation.

52.

asked the Minister for Finance if the amount of money allocated for drainage maintenance on the rivers on which arterial drainage was carried out, has been reduced this year; if so, by how much; what effect it is estimated this will have on employment on the rivers; and if he is satisfied that the necessary work can be carried out properly with the amount of money allocated.

The current provision for arterial drainage maintenance is £227,000 or £2,000 more than the corresponding figure last year. The scale of employment on arterial drainage maintenance this year is very little less than last year but the work is being done in a manner which will keep the schemes functioning properly.
