Vol. 242 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Roads.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the Kerry County Council will have a road widening scheme carried out along the Iveragh Road, Killorglin, County Kerry straight away.

The road to which the Deputy refers is a main road. The formulation of work proposals, for execution under the annual main road improvement grant available to the Kerry County Council, is a matter for the local authority. The local authority have advised my Department of a proposal to undertake a scheme under this year's grant on a section of the road in the vicinity of Lenihan's Cross. I understand that the local authority are at present examining alternative designs for the scheme.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay by Kerry County Council in carrying out a road widening scheme on the Killorglin-Milltown Road in Kilderrey in view of the very dangerous and narrow roadway there which is made more dangerous by the use of heavy CIE cattle trucks with trailers.

I would again refer the Deputy to replies to his previous questions regarding this road. Kerry County Council have not sent any proposal in the matter to my Department.
