asked the Minister for Social Welfare the present annual cost of office accommodation rented by semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in (a) Dublin, and (b) in the remainder of the country compiled to the latest convenient date; and if he will give comparable figures for the previous two years.

asked the Minister for Justice the present annual cost of office accommodation rented by semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in (a) Dublin, and (b) in the remainder of the country compiled to the latest convenient date; and if he will give comparable figures for the previous two years.

There are no bodies of the kind envisaged in the question under the aegis of my Department.

There are no semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department.

asked the Minister for Finance the present annual cost of office accommodation rented by semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in (a) Dublin and (b) in the remainder of the country compiled to the latest convenient date; and if he will give comparable figures for the previous two years.

The cost of renting office accommodation is a matter for the bodies concerned and I have no function in the matter. While these bodies were set up as instruments of national policy, they must be assured of freedom in day-to-day affairs to enable them to operate efficiently.
