andMr. O'Sullivan asked the Taoiseach what was the consumption of butter per head of the population from 1960 to 1968 and the anticipated consumption for 1969.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the required information.

Following is the statement:

(a)No quantitative allowance has been made for amounts consumed by visitors to this country or by Irish residents visiting other countries.

(b)The 1969 estimate for creamery butter is in respect of the twelve months ending September, 1969. An estimate for other butter is not available.

Seeing that we have a serious deterioration in the consumption of butter, would the Parliamentary Secretary consider revising the price instead of acting the fairy godmother for some other country so that butter there can be sold at 1/- a lb.?

That is a separate question. The question on the Order Paper relates to the consumption of butter.
