Written Answers. - Hospital Employees' Wages.

125.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the proposals submitted to his Department from 1st April 1969 to date regarding wages and conditions of employment of non-nursing personnel, including ambulance drivers, in Counties Waterford and Donegal; and his decision in each case.

The following proposals for increased remuneration for non-nursing personnel have been submitted from Waterford, since 1st April, 1969. No proposals have been received from Donegal.

Waterford.

A. Full time paid employees who at 31st December, 1968 had earnings approximately equivalent to those of rural manual workers or less to be paid increases of 45s per week, 25s from 1st June, 1969 and a further 20s from 1st October, 1969. Where a phased or other agreement is in operation any increase paid or payable from a date in 1969 to be increased to 25s from 1st June, 1969, and a further increase of 20s per week to be granted from 1st October, 1969. Part-time employees are to receive pro rata increases.

B. The increases are to be applied, inter alia, to

(a) employees whose wages are related by parity or differential to those of road workers and allied workers;

(b) non-nursing personnel including categories whose wages are directly related thereto by parity or differential;

(c) other full time employees to be granted a minimum increase of 25s per week from 1st June, 1969, or an increase of 4 per cent whichever is the greater, less any increase paid or payable from a date in 1969. Part-time employees to be granted the appropriate pro-rata increases.

My sanction has been conveyed to the proposals. It is understood that under the terms of B (c) ambulance drivers will receive an increase of 7s 6d per week from 1st June, 1969.
