Vol. 242 No. 9

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical Examination of Sligo Postman.

130.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs what have been the findings of the medical examination on a postman in Sligo (name supplied), who was called before two doctors last week.

The findings of the examination are at present under consideration by the chief medical officer to the Civil Service. I will inform the Deputy of the outcome as soon as possible.

I would ask the Minister to have it dealt with more speedily than it has been up to now. This is a young man with a wife and family. He has been asking the Department since last May for this examination and it only took place recently.

I appreciate what the Deputy says in this regard and when my attention was drawn to this case I endeavoured to get the examination done. In fact, as far as I know every effort is being made to the benefit of the particular officer in an effort to have him further examined because of the fact that examination so far seems to indicate that he should be back at work.
