asked the Taoiseach whether financial data similar to that in Tables 12 and 13 of University Statistics 1953-54 have been published for subsequent years, and if so what is the latest year in respect of which this information is available for the different university colleges.
I propose, with your permission, Sir, to take Questions Nos. 1 and 2 together.
Statistics on students and staff in the universities and on the income and expenditure of universities are published annually in aggregate form in the Statistical Abstract of Ireland. These are prepared on a basis comparable with the more detailed figures which were contained in the publication referred to by the Deputy, but there was no demand for a continuing publication of the data for individual university colleges. Consideration will be given to the possibility of publishing the detailed figures.
