I would refer the Deputy to the announcement made by me through the Government Information Bureau on 31st July last intimating that legislation would be prepared to effect the transfer to my Department of responsibility for the roads designated national routes. Consideration of the recommendation referred to by the Deputy has accordingly been completed and the necessary legislative and organisational changes to implement it are under consideration.
