2. The office is permanent, pensionable and wholetime save that the officer:—

(b) may act as consultant in a private capacity to other medical practitioners to such extent as, in the opinion of the Offaly County Council, will not interfere with the efficient performance of his official duties but such private consultant practice may not be conducted in a local authority institution.

3. Remuneration: The salary for the office is £1,905 per annum, inclusive (see note).

4. The person appointed to the office will be required to contribute 5 per cent of his annual remuneration to the health authority as a superannuation contribution unless at the time of his appointment, he is a pensionable officer of a local authority who is not required to contribute towards superannuation under the terms of a prior appointment.

5. The person appointed will be paid travelling expenses at the approved rates for any travelling necessarily performed in the discharge of his official duties.

6. The attention of candidates is directed to the provisions of section 26 (4) of the Health Act, 1953, which relate to the taking of fees for the treatment of persons in health authority institutions.

7. If a person who is not already a permanent officer of a local authority is appointed, the provisions of Article 32 (2) of the Local Government (Officers) Regulations, 1943, which relate to a probationary period, will apply.

8. The person appointed will, on reaching the age of 65 years, cease to hold office.
