asked the Minister for Health whether any inspection is carried out on all maternity homes in the State; whether any official register is maintained; and whether the standards in these maternity homes are satisfactory by international standards.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maternity Homes.
19.
Inspections of all maternity homes in the State are carried out from time to time by officers of my Department and by officers of the appropriate health authority. The health authority has a legal obligation to keep a register of all maternity homes in its area; the conditions in these homes are regarded, by and large, as complying with modern standards.
Can the Minister say what period of time is covered by the phrase "from time to time"?
I have not that information. The Deputy will have to put down another question.
