Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Garda Station.

54.

asked the Minister for Finance when the repairs that have been requested by the local development committee will be carried out at the garda station at Dundrum, County Tipperary.

The repainting of the outside of the garda station at Dundrum, County Tipperary, the cleaning of the roof and the resurfacing of the forecourt will be carried out early in the coming financial year. The local development committee has also asked that a plot of ground adjoining the station be fenced and cleared of tree stumps. This request will be attended to following consultation with the local authority as to the possibility of portion of the plot being required for road improvements.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say when he first received representations from this committee and will he set a time limit on when the repairs are to be carried out?

I first got the request in October. Naturally, we want to consult with the Department of Justice and with the local authority regarding this corner plot. I am sure the county council will want it for widening purposes. It is a triangular plot situated at a road junction and covers an area of about 15 perches. It is of no use to the Garda station and it is possible the county council may want it to improve the visibility at this very sharp corner. I expect we will be doing this work very early in the new financial year.
