Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Hotel.

71.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the up-to-date position in relation to the building of a hotel in Dún Laoghaire by Óstlanna Éireann Teo; and if he will make a general policy statement on the matter.

Óstlanna Iompair Éireann Teoranta are still examining the position in relation to the provision of a hotel in the Dublin area generally and in this connection the company is at the moment in active consultation with Dún Laoghaire Corporation.

This means they are considering a hotel for Dún Laoghaire?

Yes. There is no question of that. It is a question of working out the site. The Deputy is aware that there have been planning difficulties.

They are endeavouring to overcome the obscurantism which turned down the first application.

From the tourist and hotel point of view ÓIÉ are very concerned about establishing a hotel at Dún Laoghaire. They feel there is a real outlet for a hotel there. It is a question of getting over planning and site problems.

That is very satisfactory. Thank you.
