Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

75.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when the householders at Castlegar, Mountbellew, County Galway, can expect to be supplied with electricity.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the householders in question, who reside in the board's Mountbellew rural area, will be quoted terms within the next two months and, if these terms are accepted, supply will be extended as soon as previous commitments in the area will allow.

76.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when ESB supply will be extended to the following villages in the Kerry Gaeltacht: Fahon, Ventry, Marhin, Ballyferriter, Kilmalkedder, Ardamore and Caherscullibeen.

I am informed by the ESB that the villages in question are in the board's Ballydavid and Ballyferriter rural areas which are at present being redeveloped under the rural electrification programme. The rate at which houses are being connected has recently been increased substantially. Work will continue throughout the spring and summer months, during which the board expect to connect all householders to whom it had been indicated that supply would be made available.
