Vol. 244 No. 6

Written Answers. - Land Act, 1923.

177.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the first appointed day and the other appointed day for the purposes of section 24 of the Land Act, 1923.

Pursuant to the provisions of section 70 of the Land Act, 1923, the appointed day for the purposes of that Act shall be such day or days as may be fixed by the Land Commission. Different days may be fixed for different provisions and different purposes of the Act and for different holdings or groups of holdings and different parcels or groups of parcels of untenanted land. Accordingly, therefore, no single appointed day was fixed for the purposes of section 24 of the Act, the practice of the Land Commission being to fix an appointed day in respect of each individual estate to vest in them pursuant to the provisions of that section.
