Vol. 244 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Fire Stations.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of fire stations situated in the north side of Dublin city; the number situated on the south side; and whether it is proposed to instal any more stations on the north side.

There are two fulltime fire stations on the north side of Dublin city and three (including central headquarters) on the south side. A new station is under construction at Finglas and I have approved proposals for the erection of a further station at Kilbarrack.

As I indicated in reply to a previous question on 5th February, 1970, by the Deputy, the provision and location of fire stations are entirely matters for sanitary authorities who are obliged, under the Fire Brigades Act, 1940, to make reasonable provision for the prompt and efficient extinguishing of fires in their districts.
