I am not aware that the import of mechanically propelled vehicles not complying with safety regulations in any other country is prevalent at present. With regard to the second part of the question arrangements are being made in my Department for the introduction of an on-the-spot vehicle testing scheme in the near future. As part of this scheme a study will be made of the feasibility of giving special attention to imported second-hand vehicles.
