Vol. 244 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Organisation Reports.

5.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give references for evidence and reports on hospital organisation coming from a number of modern countries and other documents of similar kinds emerging from other health authorities all over Northern Europe to which he referred in replies on 11th February, 1970, and which, he stated, agree completely with everything that has been said in the FitzGerald Report.

The most recent relevant report is that by a committee of the British Central Health Services Council on the Functions of the District General Hospital. This was published by the Department of Health and Social Security and the Welsh Office in 1969. An earlier publication in 1967 entitled Regional Hospital Planning by the National Board of Health, Sweden covers experience in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Belgium and France. The salient principles arising in the consideration of hospital reorganisation are also dealt with in "Hospital Planning and Administration" published by the World Health Organisation in 1966.
