The amounts collected in stamp duties in the years 1966-67, 1967-68, 1968-69 and 1969-70 in respect of transfers of interests in land, including houses, were £1,532,848, £1,898,692, £2,613,737 and £2,871,797 respectively.
While exact statistics are not available, it is estimated that approximately half of these amounts related to transactions in land only.
