Before the Order of Business, I should inform the Dáil that there was a defect in the bells and, at the last division at 2.30 a.m. on Thursday, I extended the period of their ringing beyond the usual time on receiving complaints from the Chief Whips of both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. I sent ushers around to alert any Deputies who might be in parts of the premises where the bells were not ringing. Technicians have been working on the system and I am informed that it is now in order.
